Who We Are?
My Story
I am Yash, a native of Gwalior, a town celebrated for its arts, architecture, and rich biodiversity. Growing up in this historic environment instilled in me a deep appreciation for the natural world. Witnessing environmental changes over the years further solidified my commitment to conservation.
My academic background includes a B.Tech in Automobile Engineering and an MBA in Operations. My professional journey began as a techno-functional consultant, where I gained significant experience. However, I soon realized my true passion lay elsewhere.
I embraced the opportunity to explore India’s diverse and pristine landscapes, from remote mountain ranges to lush valleys and dense forests. These journeys not only connected me deeply with nature but also presented challenges that honed my problem-solving skills, especially in managing travel logistics efficiently. Alongside these explorations, I volunteered multiple times with WWF India, actively participating in conservation projects, which further deepened my commitment to environmental stewardship.
In addition to my love for nature, I am passionate about agriculture. I am currently engaged in polyhouse farming in Gwalior, learning new techniques and methods daily. This practical experience reinforces my dedication to sustainable practices and environmental conservation.
Volunteering with WWF India allowed me to work with elusive animals like tigers, leopards, elephants, and more across the Himalayas and the Terai region. Additionally, as a member of the Gwalior Forester Society, I studied leopard populations in Kuno Palpur National Park and Gwalior Forest Division. These experiences highlighted the crucial role local communities play in conservation and deepened my passion for wildlife.
Reflecting on my journey, I realize how much I’ve grown and how much more there is to learn. Inspired by my experiences, I dream of promoting eco-tourism to support local communities and raise awareness about preserving natural resources. I am currently working on starting my own eco-tourism business through Faraway Retreat, aiming to help others discover their passions as I have found mine.
